As PME em face da indústria 4.0 : estudo de caso - PME do distrito de Braga

Abstract

As Pequenas e Médias Empresas (PME) representam, em Portugal, cerca de 99% do tecido empresarial. É, pois, relevante a sua importância para o bem-estar social e para a competitividade do País. No distrito de Braga, localizam-se cerca de 93.500 PME. A quarta revolução industrial constitui um desafio para as PME e revela-se, de todo prioritário, obter informação que, em contexto da Indústria 4.0 (I4.0), potencie novo conhecimento. Com este propósito foi desenvolvida uma investigação, cuja estratégia e método tiveram em conta o estudo de caso suportado num inquérito por questionário, junto de 466 PME industriais daquele Distrito. 52 (11%) PME responderam, tendo sido considerados válidos 47 (10%) questionários. A investigação tem como fundamentação teórica diversos temas que no âmbito do I4.0 foram publicados em Revistas Internacionais, com revisão por pares. São vários e relevantes os resultados obtidos. Destes, são exemplo: (i) 47% das PME respondentes têm já e 53% ainda não têm implementado qualquer dos nove tipos de tecnologias que suportam a I4.0; e (ii) que, de treze potencias fatores críticos de sucesso para a implementação da I4.0, “a formação e qualificação das Pessoas” é considerado o mais relevante. São formuladas propostas para investigação futura, no sentido de dar continuidade à criação de novo conhecimento no âmbito dos processos de transformação tecnológica nas PME. Em face da revisão de literatura e para o nosso melhor conhecimento, o estudo de caso é pioneiro como seja ao nível da caraterização, no presente e para o futuro, das PME objeto de estudo, em face da I4.0.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) represent, in Portugal, around 99% of the business factory. Therefore, is relevant its importance for the social well-being and competitiveness of the country. In the District of Braga there are about 93,500 SME. The fourth industrial revolution is a challenge for SMEs revealing itself a priority to obtain information that, in the context of Industry 4.0 (I4.0), enhances new knowledge. With this purpose, an investigation was carried out, whose strategy and method took into account the case study supported by a questionnaire survey, among 466 industrial SME of that District. 52 (11%) SME answered, and 47 (10%) questionnaires were considered valid. The investigation has as theoretical foundation several themes that within the scope of I4.0 have been published in International Journals, with peer review. There are several and relevant obtained results. Examples of these are: (i) 47% of the responding SMEs have already and 53% have not yet implemented any of the nine types of technologies that support I4.0; and (ii) that out of a set of thirteen potential critical success factors for the implementation of I4.0, "the training and qualification of People" is considered the most relevant. Are formulated proposals for future research, in order to continue the creation of new knowledge in the context of technological transformation processes in SME. Considering the literature review and the best of our knowledge, the case study is pioneer, at the level of characterization, in the present and for the future, of the SME object of study, in view of the I4 .0.
