A pressão migratória irregular na fronteira marítima portuguesa no contexto da União Europeia : a realidade na costa sul de Portugal

Abstract

O fenómeno migratório que a Europa tem enfrentado nos últimos anos tem levantado diversas questões e trazido à ribalta, à vista de todos, antigas ou novas desconfianças e sentimentos nacionalistas, sentimentos esses que ocorrem como reação a uma (nova) realidade que o velho continente enfrenta. O enorme fluxo de pessoas que proveem de territórios e Estados totalmente falhados ou fragilizados, aliado ao Inverno demográfico que assola a Europa e, ainda, ao fenómeno terrorista jihadista que ocorre nos principais países de acolhimento desses imigrantes, leva a que tais fluxos irregulares e entrada descontrolada desses migrantes e refugiados se torne um grave problema de segurança interna para o Espaço Schengen. Outro fator é o risco a que tais migrantes se colocam nesse movimento devido à extrema necessidade e desespero, o que faz que muitos percam a vida nessa viagem. A União Europeia tem necessidade e capacidade de receber um número alargado, mas limitado, de migrantes e refugiados, os quais devem de ser integrados e respeitados na nossa sociedade

The migratory phenomenon that Europe has faced in recent years has raised several questions and brought to the daylight old or new mistrust and nationalist feelings, feelings that occur as a reaction to a (new) reality that the old continent now faces. The huge flow of people coming from failed or fragile territories and states, allied to the demographic winter that occurs in Europe, and also to the jihadist terrorist phenomenon that occurs in the main countries that host these immigrants, leads to such irregular flows of these migrants and refugees, which becomes a serious homeland security problem for the Schengen Area. Another factor is the risk that such migrants put themselves in this movement due to extreme need and desperation, which causes many deaths during their journey.The European Union has the need and capacity to receive a large but limited number of migrants and refugees, who must be integrated and respected in our society.
