O cinquentenário do quê? : a Guerra de África 1961-1974

Abstract

A passagem do cinquentenário sobre o início das operações militares portuguesas em Angola oferece a oportunidade para uma reflexão epistemológica sobre a mesma, mormente sobre a sua classificação. Sendo certo que a História é sempre uma construção que reflecte as perspectivas político-filosóficas de quem a constrói, importa debater numa perspectiva historiográfica, o conflito travado por Portugal entre 1961 e 1974 e tentar encontrar para o mesmo uma designação que seja o mais abrangente e objectiva possível. Contribuir para tal reflexão é o objectivo que se procura com este ensaio.

The celebration of the fiftieth anniversary over the beginning of the Portuguese military operations in Angola offers us the opportunity for an epistemological reflection about it, particularly on their classification. While it is true that history is always a construction that reflects political and philosophical perspectives of those who write it, it is important discuss the conflict waged by Portugal between 1961 and 1974 in a historiographical perspective and try to find for it a designation that reaches comprehensiveness. A contribution for this reflection is the main goal of this essay
