Os antecedentes da lei eleitoral para a Assembleia da República

Abstract

Se todas as leis têm uma história e a sua razão de ser, a lei eleitoral para a Assembleia da República tem fundamentos e raízes que remontam não só à fase imediatamente seguinte à revolução de 25 de Abril de 1974, como ao período em que muitos opositores ao Estado Novo defendiam novas regras na eleição dos representantes políticos. Conhecer esses fundamentos e essas raízes, procurando demonstrar a relevância dos antecedentes da actual lei que regula a escolha dos Deputados portugueses é o objectivo do presente artigo.

If all laws have a history and a reason, then the electoral law for the Parliament has principles and roots that date back not only to the period immediately after the 25 de Abril, but also to the time when many opponents to the Estado Novo defended new rules regulating the election of political representatives. The aim of this article is to show these principles and roots, aiming to demonstrate the relevance of the events leading to the present law which regulates the election of the Portuguese Members of Parliament.
