O estilo Gótico : expressão do sublime

Abstract

A consciência que o ser humano possui da sua inconfigurada transcendência, produz nele um sentimento de temor, que só é ironicamente apaziguado por essa mesma consciência. O grande drama humano, a que chamamos civilização, não é mais que uma auto descoberta com o fim de suplantar esta desconformidade existencial. Contudo o sentimento do sublime é por isso expresso em todas as épocas civilizacionais, e em todos os estilos de arte. Um desses estilos em que mais de evidencia o sublime é o Gótico, que na sua ilusória sugestão de força desperta no ser humano a consciência do sagrado, assim o propósito deste artigo é analisar de que maneira, um estilo arquitetónico, tido como uma predicação do ideal, pode de facto induzir esse sentimento de anulação e superação.

The consciousness that the human being has of his unconfigured transcendence, produce in his own interior a feeling of awe, which is only ironically appeased by the same consciousness it self.

The great human drama, which we call civilization, is no more than a self-discovery in order to supplant this existential nonconformity.

Yet the feeling of the sublime is therefore expressed in all civilizational times, and in all styles of art.

One of these styles in which the sublime is put in evidence, is the Gothic, which in its illusion suggestion of force awakens in the human being the conscience of the sacred, therefore the purpose of this article is to analyse in what way, an architectural style, taken as a predication of ideal can in fact induce in the human soul this feeling of annulment and auto-overcoming.
