Augusto Romão : um arquiteto e o seu tempo

Abstract

A presente dissertação tem como tema vida e obras do arquiteto leiriense, Augusto Romão. Estabelecido no panorama artístico e cultural em vigor nos anos finais do século XIX e os primeiros do século XX, denominado por Arte Nova. O trabalho pretende inicialmente centrar-se na evolução e integração do estilo, estudando no âmbito internacional, transitando a nível nacional e finalizando no contexto da Cidade de Leiria. Ao pesquisar o percurso de vida do arquiteto e os artistas da sua geração, permite-nos eentender o método de aprendizagem de Augusto Romão. Deste modo, ao ler criticamente as suas obras é possível identificar os elementos predominantes da Arte Nova.

The present dissertation has as theme life and works of the architect Leyriense, Augusto Romão. Established in the artistic and cultural panorama in force in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, called Art Nouveau. The work initially aims to focus on the evolution and integration of style, studying in the international scope, transiting at national level and finishing in the context of the City of Leiria. By researching the life course of the architect and the artists of his generation, he allows us to understand the method of learning of Augusto Romão. In this way, by reading his works critically, it is possible to identify the predominant elements of Art Nouveau.
